Macula and Retina Institute is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all visitors to our website, including people with disabilities. Conformance Standard

This website strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. Achieving and maintaining conformance is an ongoing effort as we continue to review and improve our website.

Measures We Have Taken

We have taken the following steps to support accessibility on this website:

  • Included a heading structure intended to help screen reader and assistive technology users navigate page content
  • Provided descriptive alternative text for meaningful images where implemented
  • Made phone numbers and addresses available as selectable, clickable text
  • Provided on-screen tools that allow visitors to adjust text size, apply a grayscale or inverted color display, underline or highlight links, and switch to a more readable font

These on-screen display tools are provided as a convenience and do not, by themselves, make this website fully conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. We are continuing to address the underlying code and content of the website directly so that it works well with assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, and keyboard-only navigation, without depending on these tools.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of this website may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of this and are working to correct these issues as part of an ongoing review process. Known limitations may include, but are not limited to, older pages, third-party embedded content, and PDF documents that have not yet been remediated.
