Dr. Small recently attended The Retina Society in San Francisco where he discussed our recent research on North Carolina Macular Dystrophy (NCMD/MCDR1). Dr. Small has been studying this disease for more than 30 years and has spend his life attempting to find the causes of the disease and a way to treat it. During this discussion, Dr. Small focused on how new multi-modal imaging such as Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A) and functional testing aid in providing new and vital insights into the developmental nature if NCMD and the human macula.
